Michael has been a supporting member of the NWWII Glider Pilots Association for over 20 years, his personal interest being drawn from his father James Larkin’s experiences in four combat glider operations in Europe during the war - Operations Detroit, Dragoon, Market and Varsity.
He has supported a number of authors, journalists and spoken history collectors with materials as well as his father’s recollections for their published works and archives.
In 2012, Michael was privileged to have joined with the Mayor of Son, Netherlands, in the unveiling of a monument dedicated to the American Troop Carrier Groups and literally yards away from where his father landed his CG-4A in Operation Market on September 17, 1944.
Michael’s focus is in providing archival support and research requests from families and interest parties relating to the activities of his father’s Troop Carrier Group, the 437th.
Michael’s experience includes participation on research projects for the Helsinki School of Economics and the World Bank in Southeast Asia as well as in corporate communications. He is currently a business journalist based in Helsinki, Finland.
