Discover Our History and Discover Your Legacy

The Association stands as the enduring legacy organization of the National WWII Glider Pilots Association, Inc., sharing the same name. Initially formed by World War II Glider Pilot members who earned the MOS 1026 and the prestigious Glider Pilots wings, its scope broadened over time. The membership was expanded to encompass individuals with an interest in the Glider Pilot program, those related to a glider pilot, or those who served in any capacity in the WWII Troop Carrier Command.

The glider pilots take pride in their distinctive silver wings adorned with the prominent letter "G," symbolizing not just their profession but also the remarkable courage encapsulated in the word "GUTS." Flying gliders beyond enemy lines on one-way missions required extraordinary bravery.

For over 50 years, our veterans and families have upheld the spirit of camaraderie and service. In the present day, the Association continues to play a crucial role by providing direct support to the Silent Wings Museum. Moreover, it extends assistance to family members of WWII glider pilots and Troop Carrier personnel, helping them connect with and learn about the heroic stories of their relatives. Through the dedicated efforts of the Leon B. Spencer Research Team, the Association maintains the National WWII Glider Pilots Digital Archives, [NWW2GPDA], the largest database of information on the 7200 WWII glider pilots who served in WWII. We continue to educate the public about the extrodinary contributions that were made in WWII by the combat Glider Pilots and Troop Carrier Personnel.

Notably, the Association collaborates with the 94th Flying Training Squadron of the United States Air Force Academy, actively contributing to ensuring that future pilots embrace and celebrate their historical legacy. Affiliation with the Air Force Historical Foundation further strengthens the commitment to preserving journals and records for the benefit of generations to come. Together, these efforts embody a dedication to honoring the past, present, and future of those who served in the Glider Pilot program and Troop Carrier Command.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. [EIN 92-3997947]
